Sydney Metro Car Parks Real-Time Occupancy Data Temporarily Unavailable

30 June 2023

Metro Stations Are Being Upgraded to Park and Ride Car Parks

Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) has announced the upgrade of the existing car parks at several stations to Park & Ride car parks, during the upgrade process, real-time car park occupancy data will not be available at these locations.

The Metro car parks that will undergo this transformation include Tallawong, Kellyville, Bella Vista, Hills Showground, and Cherrybrook. TfNSW aims to complete the upgrade works within the next few months.

Starting from Friday, June 30, 2023, the real-time car park occupancy data will be temporarily unavailable at these locations. This means that commuters using the PARKnRIDE app will not be able to view the number of available parking spaces in these car parks.

To stay informed about the progress of the upgrade works and receive updates regarding the availability of the Park&Ride car parks, commuters are encouraged to visit our website or the TfNSW website.

Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, considering the temporary unavailability of real-time occupancy data. we recommend allowing extra time for parking or exploring alternative transport options, such as using public transportation to access the Metro stations.

What does this upgrade mean to me?

After the upgrade, car park users will have to use their opal or debit/credit card to access/exit the car park. The same payment method should be used for the public transport trip. If you are using a debit/credit card it has to be registered in Transport Connect account. Click here to register.

Will the parking remain free?

Parking will continue to be free when you complete a valid public transport trip with the same payment method (Opal card or connected credit/debit card), once you’ve linked your card to Transport Connect account. Free parking is only valid for up to 18 hours. This also applies to integrated event ticket holders. After 18 hours, parking rates will apply in 24 hour increments. If you are not using public transport or you have exceeded the 18 hour free parking window, you will be charged:

  • $30 weekday flat rate

  • $10 weekend and public holiday flat rate

Standard rates will apply from the time of entry in 24 hour increments.
